Are You Looking For A More Substantial Course?
The Youth Mentoring Programme is designed for young people who cannot commit a lot of time. It has limited contact time with a limited curriculum. However, it creates a space for mentorship and a variety of discussions so young people are guided during the formative years of their adulthood.
If you are looking for a programme that is more substantial, with more courses and contact time, then please consider the Learned Youth Programme which is 4-6 hours a week and is also running at the Hamptons for the Chelmsford community. You can see the link in the website menu.
YMP In Chelmsford
The Youth Mentoring Programme (YMP) is a programme Shaykh Shams teaches privately as part of his online platform, Mawarid Lifestyle. Early in 2022, Shaykh Shams was appointed Imam of Chelmford Muslim Society (CMS). To facilitate for youth in Chelmsford, in 2022-23, there will be a group of students joining the YMP face-to-face at CMS's Hamptons Centre, with Shaykh Shams's online students tuning in live simultaneously via Zoom. The face-to-face-cohort will mostly be young people from Chelmsford and the Essex area. This course page is specifically for young people who want to attend face to face (on-campus) at the Hamptons. Anyone attending online and not in person in Chelmsford should apply via Sahykh Shams's Mawarid Lifestyle site here.

Youth, young men and women, 14-18 years of age who are willing to learn and develop.
There are no academic prerequisites. As long as a student can effectually participate in the programme, he/she is welcome to apply.
Young people who are curious about Islam and keen to learn more whose parents will remain engaged and involved in their learning. We cannot meet our objectives with young teenagers whose parents are not going to take an active interest in this and give their support when we need it.
Course Schedule
This year we are starting the course after the October half term.
The course will be a live online course with a simultaneous on-campus cohort at the Hamptons centre.
Schedule: Every Friday evening, 5.30pm - 7.30 pm
Start date: Friday 4th November.
Application deadline: Thursday 3rd November.
Course Fees
£400 per annum payable in 3 instalments as follows:
First instalment:
£200 before start date. Places cannot be confirmed without payment of fees.
Second instalment:
£100 by 1st of Jan 2023
Third instalment:
£100 by 1st of April 2023
Notes and terms:
We request that you do not waste resources and time by making us chase up fees. You must ensure that fees are paid on time.
The first instalment is completely non-refundable after enrolment is closed. At that stage, we cannot replace students who drop out. Subsequent instalments may be compassionately refunded if a student drops out due to exceptional and extenuating circumstances
Other expenses:
Books and resources must be paid for by students/guardians.
If circumstances permit some activities such as special events, trips or retreats to be organised, parents would have to pay for them additionally. We will keep everyone updated on plans.

Sibling discount: £50 per sibling.
YMP Mentors
Mentors run the weekly sessions and provide one to one mentoring to our students. They are friendly, accessible, Islamically educated, and well acquainted with the dangers faced by Muslim youth today.

Shaykh Shams is the founder and director of Mawarid Lifestyle. The YMP is his brainchild to which he brings his 20 years experience of teaching and mentoring young people and serving as an Imam and educator in the Muslim community. Shaykh Shams mentors some cohorts of the YMP and runs the programme.
Saleha Bukhari
YMP MENTOR
Ustadha Saleha is a shari’ah graduate from Ebrahim College where she completed her studies as a mature student. She has worked as a shari’ah council advisor and a chaplain and teaches young people at Ebrahim College and Q-iman. Along with mentoring YMP cohorts, she is an important role model mentor for our girls.
